The Home of the Tigers!!

Welcome to Y.E. Smith Elementary Museum School! We work collaboratively with the various museums in the area to offer an array of learning experiences to our students. We plan on increasing and nurturing those museum experiences with the goal of increasing student growth on state and local assessments.

We create a caring and supportive environment that promotes high expectations and active student participation. Active exploration through museum learning fosters use of critical thinking skills in a positive and developmentally appropriate setting.

Smith also works in close partnership with parents, students, museums, scientists and business leaders to build a strong community of leaders. Students are provided many opportunities such as:

• Instructional Labs (Science and Technology)
• Tutorial Programs (Afterschool and Saturday Academies)
• Museum Learning Experiences (incorporated into the school day) to develop and display original student exhibits
• Special Interest Teams which allows for special interest projects by academically gifted students  

With the help of the parents, community, and business organizations, we know we will meet our goal of increasing student achievement.
